Big Questions To Welcome Spring
Okay, there’s still snow on the ground in some places, but spring is officially here! It’s a time for newness, for awakening, and there’s no better way to celebrate with a little thinker than playing with some really fun spring-themed big questions.
While you wait for the first tulips to peek out of the dirt, and for the first robin to visit, here are some whoppers to get you started:
1. During the winter, some things seem to disappear, only to reappear in spring. When we can’t see something, does that mean it isn’t there anymore? How can we be sure?
2. All kinds of cute baby animals are born this time of year. What makes something cute? Is it something about the thing itself, or is it just in the way we think about it?
3. In spring, we talk about first things, like the first birds to return, the first flowers to bloom, or the first warm day. Why are things that are first so important to us?
4. In many places, we put the clocks forward an hour for spring. When we do this, are we actually changing time, or just the way we see and measure it?
5. If spring is the season of new beginnings, what would you like to start doing? Why is this an important thing to do?
6. Springtime brings all kinds of mud! Mud is definitely dirty, but can it be beautiful too? Could it be made into art? What would we need to do to mud in order for it to be a thing of beauty?
The big questions don’t end here! Entice your little thinker with big ideas as you celebrate spring holidays, plant your garden, and find fun new activities to do outside. May this season bring all you thinkers, big and small, all kinds of fresh new ideas to play with.
Happy thinking, and happy spring!
